Emily and Andrew in Maine

I was kinda disappointed when I fell in love with my husband. His family being from Idaho, it was pretty clear it meant giving up on my dream of "Thanksgivings on the coast of Maine while visiting my husband's family . . . " <Sigh>. Yep, I scored those holiday trips to the exotic land of . . . Pocatello . . . <Sigh again>. BUT, my dear friend Emily, on the other hand, got married to her dear boy Andrew in Maine this summer (because he's from there, as in, his parents still live there, as in, she'll get to go to Thanksgivings on the coast of Maine while vis . . . yeah, do that whole dream of mine). But alas, I did at least finally get to go to Maine, to photograph the wedding . . . And, Pocatello does have Arctic Circle. So, not a complete loss.

Anyway, back to the wedding! It was beautiful! They had a super small ceremony in Clark's Cove, an apple orchard where Andrew grew up picking apples; Emily's grandma arranged the flowers; her sister did her makeup; Andrew's parents arranged a lobster bake in Muscongus Bay; and they scooped up ice cream from Andrew's ice cream business, Em's Ice Cream (named after Emily! And that they flew there from Denver!). It was intimate and open, casual and extravagant, all at the same time. It was perfect and I felt so lucky to be a part of it.

(By the way, I could have easily filled this blog post with twice as many pictures, just of skies and sunsets! That place is ridiculous).

Leslie and Travis

Hello! Sometimes, when your family asks you to take their pictures it turns into well, a huge pain. Bu this time, when my sweet baby(ish) cousin called me and asked me to photograph her small wedding to her high school sweet heart how could I resist?

So I flew down to the real OC and made some pictures of two very shy and very sweet lovebirds. It is in these moments that make what I do a privilege, I am so honored to have been a part of this moment. Everyone in the family came together to make it happen, there was no floral budget, no designer, no fancy venue, just two people in love, surrounded by those that love them.

Here is a little sneak snippet of their day.

Enjoy,

Patrick and Jeff's Wedding at Fort Mason

We LOVED this wedding so much! Not only was it in a beautiful San Francisco spot on a beautiful San Francisco day, but it was with some beautiful San Francisco people- Patrick and Jeff.

Patrick was actually at our wedding 12 years ago. (That would be ours as in mine and Shawn's, not mine and Maria's-- I know, it's confusing since Maria and I kinda act like an old married couple sometimes). But Shawn and Patrick have worked together for a long time, so Maria and I were lucky enough to get to photograph this celebration, and I was lucky enough to sit down and have dinner next to the hubs, who, by the way, (and I know this is probably a terribly insensitive stereotype of me to make, but) was by far the worst-dressed guy there ;).

Anyway, great vows; great food; great succulents; but most of all, a great First Dance. Seriously, I think it may be our favorite one to date (and we've seen a lot of First Dances). I'm not even sure how to explain it . . . there was just a lot of love there and it was palpable. We were lucky to witness it.

where in the world is Carmen San Diego... or Robyn and Maria?

So, this is embarrassing. The last time we posted anything was in September of last year! We have a bunch of stuff- weddings, engagement sessions, published goods- we've been meaning to share, but the truth of the matter is that we've been super busy caring for new babies and sick parents (our lives are filled with all sorts of glamorous butt-wiping :)). But we're gonna get back on it here soon, with lots more pretty weddings! AshDan Engage Veritephotography final034

Also, here and here are some recently published weddings we're quite proud of!

Thanks for hanging in there with us... we promise to fill the blog with even more pretty pictures VERY soon!

Kristen and Andy- Wedding at Cornerstone

We said it at the time we did their engagement session, and these guys remain two of the nicest people ever! There was even this funny moment during the ceremony when the officiant shared about a time, shortly after K and A had started talking on the phone, when Andy wasn't sure if Kristen was being sarcastic and mocking him at times, because he hadn't yet figured out that she really was just that nice and sincere!

These guys got married at Cornerstone on a crazy hot day. We dripped a lot of sweat on our cameras, and Kristen and Andy dripped a fair amount on each other, but you'd never know it was a little bit miserable out seeing how gorgeous and radiant and happy they looked this day!
